Many of the contacts I receive are for Companion puppies but I do receive inquiries for Standard Poodle Show Puppy AKC Conformation Show prospects. The AKC, American Kennel Club (www.AKC.org), offers some great opportunities and Programs for showing one's canine in not only Conformation but Hunting, Rally "O" , Obedience, Agility and even Canine Good Citizen Titles to name a few. They also have wonderful opportunities for Juniors to begin learning the ropes in the Conformation Circut.
The UKC, United Kennel Club (www.UKCDogs.com), offers great opportunities for owners/handlers to get started in conformation as their regulations on handling, hair care and acceptable colors in the ring are much more relaxed than the AKC. The CKC, Canadian Kenel Club (www.CKC.CA/EN), is also a great circuit to show in conformation. To show your canine in UKC or CKC, the animal must be registered with each kennel club. The CKC offers provisional registration for show purposes only, where the UKC at this time, requires registry.
Another Great resource for showing your canine is the International All Breed Canine Association www.IABCA.com in Salem, Oregon. This organization is very interesting and there are many shows annually across the USA and abroad. Canines are judged against a standard for the breed, not against each other. Many people have sought International titles for their dogs after the AKC conformation circut. Registration in the International All Breed Canine Association is required to show in their program.
The Conformation bug bit us in 2002 and I knew we HAD to have a titled AKC Conformation Champion for our poodle passion or BUST! That is briefly described on our HISTORY page. Our first Canadian Champion was Diva and the first Dual titled Champion was our foundation boy, AM/CAN CH Pinafore Diamond Boulavardier. We are just now showing our first home-bred Standard Poodles under our Kennel Name. Wish us luck!
The tough part of Showing a Standard Poodle in any conformation circuit is HAIR CARE. Growing, conditioning and protecting the coat is REALLY a job in itself, especially the coat of "Colour" for many reasons, with fine coat and soft texture being a big part of it Many people focus on the financial end of showing AKC conformation, always stating it is too expensive.
Since we began our conformation show quest, we have used several different handlers in the USA and Canada, as well as having many contacts with poodle breeders that show. It has been a BIG learning experience to say the least. During down time, we have had to upkeep coat in our grooming shop too. Believe me, the handlers EARN THEIR MONEY!!! To title an AKC champion, hiring a professional handler could run as little as $5,000 to skies the limit, $25,000, taking as little as a month to years to title the Standard Poodle. Specialing a finished AKC Champion could run $100,000 a year!
We are impassioned by the silver color coat. Many breeders tell me not to focus on color. Well, we do..... If an AKC Conformation Title for your new Standard Poodle Puppy is in your horizon, we strongly recommend doing alot of research.
Always ask the breeders what the GUARANTEE on a co-ownership for a show puppy is? How many AKC Champions have they finished? What if the Puppy does not finish to a title, for any reason? What about the Health? Can I breed my Standard Poodle as an adult if he/she does not finish in the circuit? Do they use or recommend a specific handler for their line? Be sure you understand FULLY what the contract says and what is expected of you as the co-owner, BEFORE you Begin.
Before you start that AKC show puppy, PRELIM the HIPS with OFA or PENN HIP and be sure your investment is starting out on a solid foundation. We outline basic health requirements on our GENETIC page. Alot of handlers are breeders as well, OR work closely with many reputable breeders and are able to sell show prospects as well as handle them for the new owners. Many handlers advertise in Poodle Variety (www.PoodleVariety.com) or Poodle Review (www.Hoflin.com) , and the magazines are AWESOME for the new poodle enthusiast.
We have regrouped our thoughts on the AKC show world and in doing so, entered some very special relationships with other poodle enthusiasts that are working toward titles other than AKC conformation. They are listed on our Co-Breeder page. Many of our puppies are titled in AKC as Canine Good Citizens, working in assistance dog programs for therapy and service work. Some of our poodles are working toward or have achieved titles in conformation, agility, hunting and obedience. We post some of their pictures on our website and stay in close contact with their families getting updates on their progress.
Standard Poodles are versatile and the possibilities of the life you will live with them are ENDLESS. We truly LOVE this breed. Standard Poodles very quickly become a loving member of the family. Please contact us via email or telecom with any questions you may have on our PUPPIES.

Cheryl Thiesen, cropped to give you a larger view of the pups, is evaluating Am/CAN CH Pinafore Diamond Boulevardier X Pinafore Sea Sprite pups, Alex (white) and Missy (Marquis Diamond Miss Conduct), our silver Show Girl.

These pictures (and those above) are from our very First Litter between Am/CAN CH Pinafore Diamond Boulevardier X Pinafore Sea Sprite. These pups are playing in our backyard during the construction phase at our home in Northern California. We took this litter of 8 to Carson Valley, NV to the home of Daryl and Cheryl Thiessen of "Bragg About Poodles" to be graded.

From this litter, on the recommendation of Daryl and Cheryl, we kept "Marquis Diamond Miss Conduct." We call her Missy. Missy was shown on the AKC West Coast Conformation Circuit, handled by Antonia Fillingim of Stockton, California. Missy is now home following her puppy career, growing more coat and conditioning. We hope to get her back out in 2008.

We placed and followed the progress of many of our puppies in their new homes and lives. Many of them have excelled in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Therapy for the Disabled, and Service careers. In these show pictures, Missy is shown with her handler, Antonia, during an AKC Carson City NV event. These puppies had Exceptional Movement, noting wonderful reach and drive. They move like they are "Floating on Air."
We established our Foundation with Pinafore Standard Poodles, Penny Harney. When I watched the Pinafore poodles move in the ring, I knew that was what I wanted, and it had to be SILVER!

This is a puppy that comes along ONCE IN A LIFETIME.......
UKC CH Mithril - Marquis Diamond 1st Edition, aka "Bryce," DOB 10/26/07 went to her first conformation show in the Non-Licensed Novice Puppy classes in Sparks, Nevad on April 19 and 20, 2008, acheiving Best Puppy in SHOW, Twice.

UKC CH Bryce is now on her 4th leg to her UKC GRAND.
She was awarded her 4th CHAMPION win by Pat Johnson, JUDGE at the UKC show Saturday, June 28th 2008 in Rancho Cordova CA.
UKC CH Bryce went onto winning Best of Breed and GROUP # 1 handled by Susan Cook. Bryce is a JOY to show ANYTIME and ANYWHERE!
Bryce is now in STOCKTON CA with her AKC handler Antonia Fillingim. Watch for them in the AKC California Circut this year 2008. We have HIGH hopes for Bryce and Antonia!
Bryce is co-owned by Marquis Diamond Standards and Carolyn Caroll of Mithril Standard Poodles of Kempner, Texas. Bryce was bred by Ashley Gambrell of Ashvery Standard Poodles in Dallas Texas. Her parents are Antigua Distinctly Ashvery (white) and Mithril Aldea Lil Bubbly (blue). Pedigree.

UKC CH Marquis Diamond Code of Silence finished his Conformation Championship in sunny Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13, 2008.
"Cody" was shown owner-handled to his finish, assisted by Healther Bryant of Prodigy Standard Poodles and Lori Horst of Harmony Mountain Hunting Pudels. Special thanks to Heather and Lori for thier help at the show event.
Stay tuned for Cody and his 2008 Show career for his Grand Title and his International debut. We have LOT's of Dog Show Travel plans for this year! We will see what He grows into and if the AKC circut is for him!

Chloe was shown in Phoenix AZ in FEBRUARY with her Brother Cody.
Chloe won the Variety in one show and will again go out in March 2008 to compete for her UKC Conformation Championship Title. Chloe was shown by Helen Satterfield (My Mon) and I , Susan.
Then, our UKC CH Chloe won her CHAMPION CLASS for her 2nd Legg to her GRAND Title at the Rancho Cordova CA show under UKC Judge Debbie Orwin Sunday June 29, 2008. CH Chloe won her CHAMP CLASS, BREED and Group # 2 handled by Helen Satterfield. Helen is 86 years old and having a great time showing the Standard poodles!
Our little lady is growing coat and looking quite stunning in her new continental cut. We will continue to show her this year 2008 while she and her brother Cody mature and show us what they can do for us in the conformation circut.

UKC CH Marquis Diamond DancingCloud 9 is now our 2nd home bred Conformation Champion, owner-handled. We showed the weekend in Modesto, California, March 15 and 16, 2008. Fun and Success was had by all!
Chloe is what we call this lovely white girl and she had a nice weekend in Modesto, California strutting her stuff. Chloe is pictured resting on her laurels at the motel with her ribbons.
We even took our Veteren, AM/CAN CH Boulie out for the weekend and Boulie took a Breed win on Sunday! He is pictured next to Chloe above.
We are home recovering from the long trip and are planning our 2008 strategy for some competition for working toward the Grand Champion Titles on CH Chloe and her brother, CH Cody. Wish us well!
Chloe and Cody (DOB: 04/27/07) are siblings from our AM CH DancingCloud CoolHand Lucas (silver) and Pinafore Diamond Hail Storm (silver) breeding in Spring 2007. We kept Chloe and her silver Brother Cody, growing them up to see if they were a possibilty for a conformation career. They have been a nice addition to our poodle family and we are really having fun with them.

March 28, 2008, we took Chloe, Cody and Bryce to Phoenix, AZ to visit our extended Poodle family. We had Heather Bryant of Absolutely Fabulous Mobile Grooming (and Prodigy Poodles) meet us at Harmony Mountain Hunting Pudels for a Groomathon.
Heather cut Cody and Chloe into "Pattern" so they can grow coat and mature into their new adult Continental Hair Cuts. A Standard Poodle is shown in Puppy Trim until they are 12 months old and are then cut into pattern, growing hair until they are mature enough to continue in their conformation show career.
Cody and Chloe are litter mates (DOB 04/24/07). They are the offspring of AM CH DancingCloud Coolhand Lucas (Silver) X Pinafore Hail Storm (Silver).
We showed these puppies in the UKC to their initial conformation titles and will grow them out to see what they can do as adults in the circut.
The poodle coat must grow and fill in before they can go back out and show in conformation. Many times after a pup is cut into pattern or their adult trim, it takes sometimes until they are close to 2 years old to again be competative in the ring.
Poodles are one of the harder breeds to show in conformation mainly due to the commitiment to the conditioning and care of their coat.

Although we FROZE on April 19 and 20, 2008 in Sparks, Nevada at the Silver State Dog Club's first conformation show of the year, we really did well.
We showed our AKC/UKC CH Antigua's Don't Look Back, aka Valentino, UKC CH Marquis Diamond Miss Conduct, aka Missy, and UKC CH Mich's Mt-Thunder Mountain Fanci to a FINISH achieving Conformation Championship titles on 3 of our dogs.
We will begin working toward Grand Title's on our newest champs this summer, along with our AKC career for our Brittany, Fanci.
I must say that once you get out there and take the step to handling your own in the ring, it is ADDICTIVE.
We are having a GREAT time and meeting lot's of people that have interest in our love for the canine.
We hope to see you in the circut! We have lot's of show travel plans for 2008.

Pictured is Am/CAN CH Pinafore Diamond Boulevardier August 20, 2004 at the Heartland of America Poodle Specialty in Kansas City, Missouri. Boulie is shown by Terri Meyers and Kristen, Terri's niece. He WON the Variety at the Specialty. The judge was Kathey MacFarland.
Boulie won from the Puppy Dog Class 9 to 12 months, first place, Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Opposites and BEST PUPPY in Show. This win was Boulie's FIRST MAJOR WIN. Boulie was a USA Champion in 5 weekends . . .
We were so jazzed ringside it took our breath away. There were many poodles in the specialty on that Friday night and my mom and I were ringside in Kansas City, Missouri to watch. What a GREAT 5 day vacation.

The next year (September 2005), the Heartland of America Poodle Specialty was held in St. Joseph, Missouri, along with the Poodle Club of America Regional. Pinafore Diamond Hailstorm was shown in the 12 to 18 month Puppy Class and went 4 out of 9. We were ringside for a great weekend and saw all of the wonderful poodles in the show.

To care and protect the poodle coat takes alot of commitment to the top line, specifically the Ears, neck and shoulder hair. Wrapping and banding becomes necessary as the coat grows. The wraps and bands are sold in many colors, as well as other specialty show coat products at: www.Laineeltd.com
